About us
Though Bryan and I have had dogs our entire lives, I only had the pleasure of discovering vizslas when Maci entered my life in February of 2010. I have since described her as the best thing that ever happened to me, which requires I quickly clarify--for Bryan's sake--that he, too, was a very, VERY, close second ;-)
Bryan and I married in June of 2016, only after Maci approved. As it turned out, she adored Bryan as much as I do, and she also appreciated the companionship of the other vizslas and kuvasz we've since added to our pack. Though Maci has since passed away, her strong influence over our pups continues to shine through in each and every one of their personalities.
I grew up with animals, particularly in love with raising, training, and showing my llamas. Looking back, I regret giving them up as a humungous piece of my life when I dedicated roughly 8 years to college in pursuit of my physical therapy degree. The year of 2020 changed many of our lives, and I can attest that mine took a wild turn as well. Little did I know that my dedication to triathlon for over a decade would come to an end, and my interest in training and showing Jocko would flourish like fire with newly added fuel.
Acquired in the early summer of 2019, Jocko entrusted me his heart and revealed an earnest desire to please and impress. I recognized this invitation for teamwork immediately, especially given the experiences I have gained from working with my llamas. Jocko and I started working together on tricks, finding scents, and working birds. In short order, we acquired titles, and the same competitive flame I devoted to racing triathlon began to transform into that which is more keenly embellished by the companionship of my new best friend.
In October of 2020, Jill Brennan approached me about a lovely girl from her latest litter that she wanted me to consider adding to my pack. I recognized immediately her excitement about this pup over the phone, and when she sent me pictures, I could not deny her solid structure and her sweet face. Though Maci was my greatest gift and Jocko my sweetest lover, Mustang was my best surprise.
The lessons Maci and Jocko have taught me have helped me better appreciate how each puppy commands unique attention and training. I learned very quickly Mustang's propensity for trouble, which I have come to appreciate is simply a strong desire to work and learn. So, we immediately began working on her Trickdog titles, and since then, she has developed into an incredible show and performance girl. Taking on Maci's matriarchical responsibility, Mustang now serves as the pack's mediator. When I acquired my new llamas in 2021, Pax, the kuvasz puppy, needed a strong figure from whom to learn the ropes. Mustang whipped him into shape, and Pax now serves as my most steadfast farm and family guardian.
Good thing, because Ragnar the vizsla, with all his energy and propensity for trouble, needed a strong gang of companions to guide him. Acquired in September of 2023 from Rebecca Quist and Camden Vizslas, Ragnar is the reason for my biggest smile.
I don't identify as a breeder because I focus more closely on training, competing, and showing my dogs. I am grateful for the breeders with whom I share these pups and the wealth of knowledge they have, as well as their dedicated efforts toward preserving the breeds to which they devote much of their time and energy.
On occasion we have puppies to share with new homes eager to experience and enjoy the companionship of a well bred vizsla. Please check out our Puppies page for announcements, and fill out an application if you'd like to start the conversation with Meghan about acquiring a pup from Red Rising Vizslas.
